The Dorze people are hard working people in Gamo Gofa Zone. They have their own style of house construction from bamboo trees from floor to ceiling.
Each house has its own small garden surrounded by enset, beds of spices, cabbage & tobacco. The main house height reaches up to 5 mts & it has a beehive shaped structure with an aristocratic ‘nose’ furnished with two benches forms a reception room for guests. The houses is built to keep the inhabitants in a maximum comforts and fends off the cool breath of air. This people are also famous for its woven cloths locally called as"Shemma" or Bulukos /Cotton Blanket/. These hand woven cultural cloths found to be another fascinating tourist attraction. .These people are also famous in "Meskel" the finding of the true cross.
